NAIROBI, KENYA — Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has officially launched the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), a new political entity.

During an address at the party’s headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi, on Thursday, Mr. Gachagua disclosed that the party’s formation followed six months of extensive consultations conducted at his residence.

He emphasized that the DCP was established to address persistent governance challenges and to provide enhanced leadership for Kenyans.

“Kenyans have boldly told us they have a solution to the problems facing them. Kenyans have asked us to start a party which will form a government by the people for the people,” he stated.

Mr. Gachagua affirmed the party’s commitment to inclusivity and its dedication to prioritizing the voices of Kenyans, as reflected in its slogan, “Skiza Wakenya,” meaning “Listen to Kenyans.” He also noted that the party has incorporated representatives from diverse demographics across the nation, including Generation Z.
