“You Will Not Silence Me”: Orengo Vows to Keep Criticizing President Ruto’s Govt
Siaya County Governor, James Orengo has vowed to defend democracy and has condemned intimidation tactics.

SIAYA, KENYA — Siaya Governor James Orengo has reaffirmed his commitment to persistently highlight perceived threats to Kenya’s democratic framework, asserting that attempts at intimidation will not deter him from speaking out.

Governor Orengo emphasized that the cultivation of a robust democracy in Kenya hinges on the citizenry’s willingness to challenge those who seek to suppress crucial institutions.

He made these remarks during the launch of infrastructure development projects at Bar Ndege and Urenga health centers, located within the Ugenya Constituency.

Governor Orengo stressed the importance of preventing leaders from assuming an unassailable status, stating that Kenyans must not permit the rise of “demi-gods” who are beyond reproach.

He expressed deep concern over the historical trend of electoral interference, attributing it to a lack of discipline among those in positions of authority.

This indiscipline, he argued, has resulted in the manipulation of election outcomes, preventing legitimately elected individuals from assuming their rightful leadership roles.

He maintained that adherence to the rule of law and respect for the Kenyan constitution, recognized as one of the world’s most progressive, are fundamental requirements for the nation’s progress.

“We do not have to change the constitution again to ensure fairness. We only need to stop electoral fraud,” he stated.
