WASHINGTON, D.C., United States — U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran has “agreed to everything” in ongoing negotiations aimed at securing a broader peace and nuclear arrangement, even as key details remain unclear and tensions persist in the region.

Speaking in a phone interview with CBS News on Friday, Trump said the proposed deal includes provisions for the removal of Iran’s enriched uranium, without the deployment of American ground troops.

“No. No troops,” he said.

Pressed on who would oversee the retrieval of the uranium stockpile, Trump responded: “our people.”

“We’ll go down and get it with them, and then we’ll take it,” Trump said.
“We’ll be getting it together because by that time, we’ll have an agreement and there’s no need for fighting when there’s an agreement. Nice right? That’s better. We would have done it the other way if we had to.”

The remarks suggest a potential shift in Washington’s approach to Iran’s nuclear programme, long viewed as a flashpoint in Middle East security dynamics.

Trump also asserted that Iran has agreed to halt support for regional militant groups, including Hezbollah and Hamas, a longstanding demand by both Washington and its allies.

However, there has been no immediate confirmation from Tehran on these claims.

Earlier in the day, Trump told Bloomberg that a deal to end the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran was “mostly complete,” with further talks expected to take place over the weekend in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The latest diplomatic push follows a volatile period marked by a 40-day conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran, which ended in a ceasefire announced on April 8.

Initial negotiations between Washington and Tehran were held in Islamabad but failed to produce a breakthrough.

During the conflict, Iran tightened control over the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil transit route, after joint U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian targets on February 28.

In response, the United States imposed a naval blockade on Iranian shipping routes, escalating fears of disruption to global energy markets.

Although both sides confirmed on Friday that the strait had been reopened to commercial traffic, Trump indicated that U.S. naval pressure would continue.

The president wrote on Truth Social that the blockade would “remain in full force” until a final agreement is secured.

Iran, however, has warned it could again close the waterway if the blockade persists, raising concerns over a renewed escalation.

Any agreement involving Iran’s enriched uranium would mark a significant development in efforts to curb nuclear proliferation, particularly after the collapse of earlier frameworks such as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

Analysts caution that while Trump’s statements signal optimism, the absence of formal confirmation from Iran and the complexity of verification mechanisms could complicate implementation.

The coming days of negotiations are expected to test whether both sides can translate political rhetoric into a verifiable and durable agreement.
