Activist Boniface Mwangi is Kenya’s most famous provocateur; at least in the eyes of the political elite.

NAIROBI, Kenya — A warrant of arrest has been issued for prominent activist Boniface Mwangi after he failed to appear in court to enter a plea. The court has directed that the case be mentioned again on the 14th of next month before Court 1.

According to the charge sheet, Mr Mwangi is facing allegations of assaulting a police officer.

Specifically, it is alleged that on April 20, 2025, at the Metropolitan Court in the Kilimani area within Dagoretti Sub-County, Nairobi County, Mr Mwangi “willfully and unlawfully assaulted No. 218181 Sgt. Osman Omar, a police officer acting in the execution of his duties, thereby causing him actual bodily harm.”
