Stevo Simple Boy hits back after Andrew Kibe questions his right to be a father

NAIROBI, Kenya — Kenyan musician Stevo Simple Boy has responded after controversial content creator Andrew Kibe questioned his suitability to be a parent, sparking debate across social media.

The dispute emerged months after Stevo and his former partner Brenda welcomed their son in November 2025, a milestone that the artist has previously described as one of the most important moments in his personal life.

Kibe, known for his provocative commentary on social and relationship issues, made the remarks during a recent podcast interview with media personality Dr Ofweneke.

During the discussion, Kibe criticised the musician and suggested that people like him should not have children, comments that quickly drew criticism from sections of the public.

His remarks were widely shared online, with many social media users accusing him of making personal attacks that unfairly targeted the singer and his family.

Responding through social media, Stevo Simple Boy expressed disappointment that his child had been dragged into a public controversy.

The “Mihadarati” hitmaker urged Kibe to direct any criticism toward him rather than involving his son, whom he described as innocent.

“Andrew Kibe, kama una tatizo na mimi, zungumza kuhusu mimi. Lakini usimhusishe mtoto wangu ambaye hana kosa lolote. Sijawahi kuchagua nilivyozaliwa, lakini nimechagua kuwa mtu mwenye heshima.”

Translated, the statement means:

“If you have a problem with me, talk about me. But do not involve my child, who has done nothing wrong. I never chose how I was born, but I have chosen to be a respectable person.”

The singer’s response was praised by many fans who commended him for addressing the matter calmly and without resorting to insults.

Stevo maintained that he would not respond to hostility with hostility, saying his focus remains on raising his son and advancing his music career.

He emphasised that children should never be ridiculed because of their appearance or the circumstances of their parents.

“Watoto wote ni baraka, na hakuna mtoto anayestahili kudharauliwa kwa sababu ya mwonekano wake au wazazi wake.”

The statement translates to:

The artist has often spoken publicly about the challenges he has faced throughout his rise in the music industry and his desire to build a stable future for his family.

While the latest exchange has generated widespread discussion online, Stevo’s response has shifted attention toward broader conversations about respect, parenthood, and the treatment of public figures and their families on social media.
