NAIROBI, Kenya — Media personality and content creator Oga Obinna has addressed claims that he disparaged Goliath wa Bungoma following an interview in which he advised the young influencer to return to Bungoma.
The clarification comes after social media narratives suggested Obinna had rejected Goliath and expressed envy over his recent successes, including the construction of a new house. In a video shared on Instagram on Thursday, February 5, 2026, Obinna dismissed such claims, emphasizing that he was genuinely happy for Goliath’s progress.
“Why would I feel bad that he is building a house? We don’t do the same business; there is nothing that he has that I want. I feel good when people are winning,” Oga Obinna said.
Obinna explained that his advice during the interview was intended to help Goliath reassess his options and strategy, though some viewers interpreted it as harsh or dismissive.
“We tried to reason… what can you really do, what do you have to offer, mkono mtupu haulambwi. You have to have something. The juice was not worth the squeeze,” Obinna said, noting that at the time, Goliath was not yet established in creative fields such as acting, music, or dancing.
After the interview, Goliath wa Bungoma, born Isaac Otesa, faced challenges in Nairobi, including a lack of accommodation and limited resources. His circumstances caught the attention of Geoffrey Mosiria, Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement, who provided temporary housing and later helped Goliath secure work as a bouncer.
This support allowed him to rebuild his confidence and eventually secure promotional work with a car company, paving the way for his recognition as a brand ambassador and social media influencer.
Obinna reflected on the impact of their conversation, suggesting it helped shape Goliath’s path to success.
“Some people did not see the logic in my advice. When he left, another employer saw him in the streets, and things spiralled, but think back, was it from the employer? No, it was from our conversation. God was there. I was just a vessel,” he stated.

Goliath wa Bungoma has become known for his extraordinary height and distinctive personality. Before relocating to Nairobi, he worked as a boda boda rider in Bungoma County.
Life in the capital was difficult, but the combination of personal determination, mentorship, and opportunity allowed him to flourish.
Oga Obinna urged the public to focus on positive narratives and celebrate the achievements of others rather than assuming negativity.
“Most people look at the negative side of things. Try and see the positives in everything,” he said, highlighting the importance of recognising and supporting the success of fellow Kenyans.
