Zelensky predicts Putin ‘will die soon,’ urges US to maintain pressure
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (Left) predicted Russia's Vladimir Putin “will die soon.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has asserted that Russian President Vladimir Putin “will die soon,” amidst persistent speculation regarding the latter’s declining health, while simultaneously urging the United States to maintain political and economic isolation of Moscow.

“He [Putin] will die soon, and that’s a fact, and it will come to an end,” Zelensky stated in an interview with Eurovision News on Wednesday.

Zelensky’s prediction aligns with years of circulating rumors concerning Putin’s health, which have included reports of strokes, various forms of cancer, and Parkinson’s disease. He made this assertion while imploring the US to “stay strong” and resist yielding to the Kremlin’s demands during ongoing peace and cease-fire negotiations.

“It is very important that America does not help Putin to get out of this global isolation now,” Zelensky emphasized. “I believe that this is dangerous. This is one of the most dangerous moments.”

He further suggested that Putin, whom he anticipates will remain in power until his death, is primarily concerned about the “destabilization of his society,” and that Western nations can contribute to intensifying this pressure.

“If they push Putin, he will face destabilization in his society, and he will fear it,” Zelensky said.

His remarks preceded a meeting with European leaders in Paris on Thursday, where discussions regarding a permanent cease-fire between Russia and Ukraine were scheduled. The US was not slated to participate in the meeting.

These developments followed shortly after the US announced an agreement between Ukraine and Russia to suspend military strikes in the Black Sea.

However, both Russia and Ukraine subsequently accused each other of violating the terms of this tentative US-brokered deal, highlighting the complexities involved in achieving a comprehensive peace in the ongoing conflict.
