NAIROBI, KENYA — A foreign national has died after being struck by a speeding presidential convoy on Ngong Road, near Adams Arcade, on Thursday, March 13th.

The convoy was proceeding from Lang’ata to Kibra Constituency, where President William Ruto was scheduled to address a public gathering at the Kibra DC Grounds.

Reports indicate that the victim, a middle-aged Caucasian male, was attempting to cross the busy thoroughfare when he was hit by a vehicle within the rapidly moving convoy.

Eyewitness accounts state that the vehicles involved did not halt following the collision, leaving the individual deceased at the scene.

This incident has elicited strong public reaction, with numerous Kenyan citizens expressing condemnation of the convoy’s actions and accusing the government of negligence.

The body of the deceased has been moved to the City Mortuary, awaiting an autopsy.

Some have also drawn connections between the incident and the ongoing political activities associated with President Ruto’s development tour of Nairobi, during which he has launched several public projects.

President Ruto, currently on the fourth day of his tour, has not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.

Meanwhile, the National Police Service (NPS) has launched investigations into the death of the foreign national who is yet to be identified by the time of filing this report.

“Following a mad traffic accident that occurred today at Adams Arcade along Ngong Road involving a government vehicle, which resulted in the death of a pedestrian who is a foreign national, the National Police Service (NPS) is now handling the matter, and investigations have commenced,” said the police, in a statement signed by spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga.

“The National Police Service urges motorists, pedestrians, and all other road users to exercise extreme caution and adhere to traffic rules to prevent accidents,” added the NPS.
