MINNESOTA, United States — Ugandan singer Jose Chameleone’s son, Abba Marcus Mayanja, has been arrested in Minnesota over an alleged domestic assault, according to booking information published in the United States.
Mayanja, 20, was booked by police in Edina, Minnesota, on August 14, 2026, with the available booking information indicating that he faces a misdemeanor domestic-assault charge.
The allegation relates to an alleged act intended to cause fear of immediate bodily harm or death.
The booking information indicated that Mayanja remained in custody when the information was published, with bail or bond listed at $10,000.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged incident have not been publicly detailed.
Arrest follows relationship breakup posts
Mayanja’s arrest came hours after he announced on social media that he had ended his relationship with his pregnant girlfriend.
In posts on his verified Instagram account, Mayanja described the relationship as abusive and accused his former partner of provoking him.
“Finally done w this abusive ass girl,” he wrote in one post.
In another post, he suggested that his actions had been in response to what he described as prolonged provocation.
Mayanja did not provide details of an incident that would explain the circumstances behind the arrest.
It also remains unclear whether his girlfriend was the complainant in the domestic-assault case.
The allegations have not been tested in court, and an arrest does not amount to a finding of guilt.
Mayanja was expecting first child
The development comes months after Mayanja and his girlfriend, identified in Ugandan entertainment reports as Angel, announced that they were expecting their first child.
Reports published in April said Angel was about 19 weeks pregnant at the time.
The couple had previously shared aspects of their relationship online, including videos and photographs documenting the pregnancy.

The pregnancy attracted considerable attention in Uganda because it was expected to make Chameleone a grandfather for the first time.
Mayanja is the eldest son of veteran musician Jose Chameleone, real name Joseph Mayanja, and his former wife, Daniella Atim.
The couple have five children together. Mayanja has in recent years developed his own public profile in the United States, where he has pursued music and other interests.
Family has remained in public spotlight
Mayanja has previously spoken publicly about his father’s health and personal struggles, attracting considerable attention on social media.
In December 2024, he publicly discussed Chameleone’s health and urged family members and fans to support the singer.
He has also previously been recognised for his swimming achievements after relocating to the United States with his family.
The latest incident places the young Mayanja back in the spotlight as he prepares to become a father.
Further details about the alleged domestic assault, including the circumstances leading to the arrest and the identity of any complainant, had not been established from the available information at the time of publication.
Mayanja remains entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until proven guilty in court.
