KAMPALA, Uganda — Local musician Douglas Mayanja, widely known as Weasel, has been hospitalized at Nsambya Hospital following an alleged domestic altercation with his wife, Sandra Tete. The incident, which reportedly occurred at a bar in Munyonyo, Makindye Division, resulted in Tete’s arrest.
Eyewitnesses at Chans bar told police that Tete allegedly ran over Weasel with a vehicle, causing multiple fractures in one of his legs.
Weasel was initially rushed to Mukwaya Hospital before being transferred to Nsambya Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
According to detectives, Tete has provided an account of the events leading up to the incident. She stated that she had a quarrel with Weasel at their home earlier in the day, after which he allegedly chased her and their children away. After being told by her in-laws to return home and resolve their issues, Tete claims the dispute continued. She then followed him to the bar.
As quoted by detectives, Tete said: “When I returned, Weasel continued abusing and assaulting me. He then drove to the bar, and I followed him there. We quarrelled again, and I later entered the vehicle and knocked him down.”

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, confirmed Tete’s arrest and detention at Kabalagala police station. The vehicle allegedly used in the incident has been impounded by police as investigations continue.
The couple, who have two children together, have a well-documented history of altercations and reconciliations.
Weasel, who is the younger brother of musician Joseph Mayanja, alias Dr Jose Chameleone, and Tete have previously been involved in domestic disputes that required police intervention and mediation by family and friends.
