KAGADI, Uganda — The Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, Hon. Balaam Barugahara, narrowly escaped a serious road accident in Kagadi District on Thursday.
The incident occurred while the Minister was en route to Fort Portal to attend the Tooro Kingdom Annual Youth Conference.
The accident involved a collision with a boda boda (motorcycle taxi), resulting in tragic fatalities and injuries.
Sadly, the boda boda rider lost his life at the scene. Additionally, two members of the Minister’s traveling team sustained injuries, though their conditions are reported to be stable.
In an official statement following the incident, Hon. Balaam expressed profound gratitude for what he described as divine protection and commended his driver’s swift actions, which he believes averted further casualties.
“Thank God for His mercy. I’m grateful for our driver’s quick thinking and skillful maneuvers that saved us,” he noted.

The Minister also extended his condolences to the family of the deceased rider, adding, “May the deceased’s soul rest in peace. My condolences to the family, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
Local authorities have since launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
The Minister and his team are reported to be in stable condition following the harrowing experience.
