ADJUMANI, Uganda — Retired Gen Moses Ali, 85, appears set for a decisive victory in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries for Adjumani West Constituency.

With only 10 villages remaining to be counted, Gen. Ali has established a commanding lead over his closest rival, Nixon Owole, suggesting a strong mandate for the veteran politician.

According to preliminary results, Gen. Ali has so far garnered 7,384 votes, while Owole trails significantly with 3,584 votes, creating a substantial margin of 3,803.

The other two candidates in the race, Moses Kibirai and S. Adrawa, have secured 931 and 525 votes respectively.

Despite concerns raised about his health and apparent frailty during the campaign, the current results place Gen. Ali in a formidable position to retain the NRM flag for the upcoming 2026 parliamentary elections.
