Woman arrested after boyfriend falls to his death from Kilimani apartment

NAIROBI, Kenya — Detectives in Kilimani are investigating a tragic incident in which a man lost his life after falling from the 14th floor of an apartment complex along Kindaruma Road following a domestic altercation.

The victim died instantly after landing on the roof of a saloon car parked below.

Security guards and residents reported hearing a loud thud and, upon investigation, discovered the body sprawled on the vehicle with visible severe injuries, including broken legs.

A weekend party turned fatal

Preliminary police investigations indicate that the deceased and his girlfriend, aged 48, had checked into the short-stay apartment on Friday, November 28, 2025, intending to spend the weekend.

On Saturday, the couple was reportedly joined by another male friend for a drinking spree inside the unit, which lasted until the early hours of Sunday morning. According to the statement given to the police by the woman, the male friend eventually left the apartment, leaving the couple alone.

Authorities report that a disagreement arose shortly after the friend’s departure. The verbal exchange reportedly escalated into a physical fight, during which the deceased is alleged to have assaulted the woman.

During the struggle, as the woman attempted to demand the man leave the room, it is alleged that she pushed him, causing him to fall over the balcony.

In a shocking turn of events, the woman reportedly went to sleep following the incident, claiming to be oblivious to the man’s fate until she was awakened by neighbors and police officers pounding on the door.

Police findings and arrest

Upon processing the scene, officers recovered an assortment of drugs and empty alcohol bottles within the apartment.

  • The woman has been arrested and is expected to appear in court on Monday.
  • Police intend to request the court for more time to detain the suspect pending the conclusion of the investigation.
  • The case is currently being treated as a murder investigation.

The body has been moved to the mortuary awaiting an autopsy. Detectives are also actively searching for the male friend who was present earlier in the night to record his statement.

This tragedy highlights a concerning rise in fatal incidents occurring during social gatherings in high-rise apartments.

Just last weekend, a female university student died after falling from the 12th floor of an apartment during a party. Police arrested seven students in connection with that case, which is currently pending in court.
