NAIROBI, Kenya — Former Deputy President and DCP Party leader Rigathi Gachagua has announced the early termination of his month-long U.S. tour to return home and prepare for upcoming by-elections.

In a post on his X account, Gachagua stated, “I regret being unable to visit the scheduled remaining States since I need to get back home to join our party, DCP Democracy in preparation for the upcoming By-Elections in various parts of our country.”

He offered apologies to the event organizers and the Kenyan diaspora he was slated to meet, noting that the remainder of his trip has been rescheduled for early 2026.

“I am sorry to cut my trip short; my profound apologies to the organizers and Kenyans whom I were to meet; the same has been rescheduled to early next year,” he added.

Gachagua’s decision to return home comes amidst a significant political controversy following accusations he made against President William Ruto.

Gachagua alleged that President Ruto has ties to the Sudanese paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Somalia-based terror group Al-Shabaab.

Specifically, Gachagua claimed, “I saw Ruto today fumbling with words, claiming the Americans have a problem with him because of his relationship with China. That is not the issue. The Americans want to investigate, to unearth, your business dealings with Hemedti (Mohamed Hamdan Dagal) of RSF, where you are doing good business and supplying arms to the terrorist group to kill women and children.”

In response to these serious allegations, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has ordered Gachagua to appear before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) upon his return to Kenya to record an official statement.

Murkomen emphasized the gravity of the claims, announcing, “We expect him to tell us which Al-Shabaab did we negotiate with and who negotiated with those Al-Shabaab because we must stop the propaganda that is going on outside the country.”
