ABUJA, NIGERIA — Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, formerly known as Tuface, has confirmed his separation from his wife, actress Annie Idibia. The couple, who married in 2012 and share two daughters, were considered one of Nigeria’s most prominent celebrity pairings.

The announcement initially appeared in an Instagram post, which was subsequently deleted, leading to confusion. The post stated that they had been separated for a period and were pursuing divorce proceedings.

To clarify the situation, 2Baba later released a video confirming the accuracy of the original message.

2Baba, a key figure in the rise of Nigerian music on the global stage, is credited with influencing contemporary artists such as Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.

His 2013 wedding to Annie in Dubai was a high-profile event widely covered in Nigerian media. Despite officially changing his stage name to 2Baba in 2014, he remains widely known as Tuface.

The news of the separation has surprised many, as the couple had publicly navigated past challenges and were known for their long-lasting relationship within the Nigerian entertainment industry.

2Baba has indicated plans for a press conference to provide further details and communicate directly with his fans.

The initial Instagram post, which was quickly removed, claimed the account had been compromised. However, 2Baba’s subsequent video directly addressed this, stating, “No-one hacked my account, I said what I said, I come in peace.” This confirmation, along with the couple unfollowing each other on social media, reinforces the reality of their separation.

Annie Idibia appeared as 2Baba’s love interest in the music video for his hit song “African Queen,” a project believed to have been the starting point of their romantic relationship.

Annie, also known for her acting career, recently garnered attention on the reality show Young, Famous & African where she openly discussed personal aspects of their marriage, including a miscarriage and the complexities arising from her husband’s past relationships.
