MACHAKOS, Kenya — President William Ruto on Sunday, July 20, 2025, presented a brand new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado to African Inland Church (AIC) Bishop Benjamin Kalanzo during his installation ceremony.
President Ruto was attending the ceremony in Machakos, where Bishop Kalanzo was officially installed as the new shepherd for AIC Machakos Area, succeeding the retired Bishop Philip Muia.
The President announced that, with the support of friends, he had acquired the new vehicle for the newly installed bishop.
In addition to the vehicle, President Ruto pledged KSh 20 million towards the construction of a new sanctuary for the AIC Machakos Church.
This commitment came after he was informed that the total budget for the construction project was KSh 200 million, with the President offering to contribute 10 percent of the total amount.

President Ruto encouraged the church leadership to establish a committee and provide an official account number to facilitate the transfer of the pledged funds.
He lightheartedly commented on the ambitious budget, remarking that the church congregation must be composed of individuals with immense faith.
In response, he added that due to the church’s strong faith, he, too, has faith that the entire amount required will be successfully raised.
His remarks were met with enthusiastic applause from the congregation, prompting Bishop Kalanzo to rise in appreciation. The President then reiterated his request for the church leadership to form a committee and provide a dedicated account number for the KSh 20 million contribution.

He emphasized that the committee should consist of church members and clarified that the funds would serve as a “starter” contribution.

“Na kwa sababu mko na imani, mimi pia niko na imani kwamba tutatimiza. Kwa hivyo, nitaanzisha na asilimia kumi ya hiyo milioni mia mbili. Tengenezeni kamati na akaunti maalum ya ujenzi—wewe Kiuli usimamie. Mkinipatia akaunti, nitatuma milioni ishirini za kwanza, halafu tuone vile mambo yataenda,” President Ruto stated.
He further encouraged those present to contribute to the project, referencing a biblical verse about storing treasures in heaven as he urged the congregation to support the noble cause. “Lakini hawa watu pia watoe pesa, si ndio? Wekeni hazina yenu mbinguni… sitaki kuwahubiria,” he added.
