NAIROBI, Kenya — The Co-operative Bank of Kenya confirmed that two of its branches, specifically those in Githurai and Dagoretti Market, were affected during Wednesday’s June 25, 2025, demonstrations.

In a statement shared across its social media platforms, the bank acknowledged that one of its Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) suffered a break-in.

Despite the incident, the bank quickly moved to reassure its customers and staff, confirming no injuries were reported.

They also clarified that the financial loss from the damaged ATM was negligible.

“We advise that there were no injuries to any of our customers or staff, with minimal cash loss from one of the ATMs,” the statement read in part.

The Co-operative Bank also announced that repair work has already begun on the affected branches, with expectations that they will be fully operational again within the next few days.

Customers who typically use the Githurai and Dagoretti Market branches have been advised to access banking services at any other nearby Co-operative Bank location in the interim.

The bank concluded by stating it continues to monitor the ongoing situation and extended its gratitude to the public for their continued support and understanding.
