KISUMU, KENYA — Youth empowerment in Kisumu County received a substantial impetus today as Internal Security Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo officiated the handover of economic support tools to young people spanning the county’s 35 wards.
In a move intended to foster inclusivity, productivity, and security at the grassroots level, PS Omollo, accompanied by his counterpart from the Ministry of Health, Ouma Oluga, engaged youth leaders in a comprehensive forum addressing governance, empowerment, and public safety.
A key moment of the day was the distribution of five tuk-tuks, ten motorcycles, one matatu, and Ksh 500,000 in capital support specifically for women traders within the “mama mboga” category.
This initiative is strategically designed to stimulate youth entrepreneurship, generate employment opportunities, and promote economic self-sufficiency among vulnerable populations.
Today’s event builds upon an expanding range of community-focused initiatives spearheaded by PS Omollo, who has been a strong advocate for a governance model that places citizens at the core of national development.
Under his guidance, the Interior Ministry has been conducting grassroots consultative forums to ensure public policy aligns with the needs of communities, with a particular emphasis on security, service delivery, and social cohesion.
Notably, PS Omollo has also been a leading figure in a transformative Widows Empowerment Program across the Nyanza region.
This ongoing initiative provides widows with vocational training in areas such as tailoring, agriculture, and entrepreneurship, alongside microloans and mentorship to facilitate long-term financial independence.
The program continues to positively impact lives throughout the region, offering renewed hope and stability to families previously marginalized by bereavement and poverty.
