NAIROBI, Kenya — Several major Kenyan brands have sparked an online mystery after appearing to lose colours from their digital identities in a coordinated wave of changes across their digital platforms.

The unusual activity was first noticed with Jumia, before several other prominent brands, including GA Insurance, Tecno, KCB, Glovo and Farmers Choice, appeared to report similar changes.

The striking similarities have prompted speculation that the brands could be participating in a coordinated campaign, although no official explanation has yet been publicly established.

The developments quickly turned social media into a guessing game, with users comparing the changes across different companies and asking what could be behind the sudden disappearance of familiar brand colours.

KFC adds to the mystery

The mystery deepened after KFC Kenya appeared to suggest that it could have information about what was happening.

The fast-food brand’s intervention added another layer to the unfolding campaign and prompted more speculation about whether the affected companies were working together.

The unusual branding activity has since spread beyond the companies initially identified, suggesting that the changes may form part of a broader coordinated digital activation.

Even Citizen Digital is affected

The mystery took another turn when Citizen Digital reported that its own colours appeared to be affected while following the story.

The development has further fuelled speculation that the phenomenon could involve a much wider group of Kenyan brands and media platforms.

Citizen Digital indicated that it was investigating what had happened, adding to the sense that the disappearance was being treated as an unfolding mystery rather than a confirmed technical problem.

Where are Kenya’s colours going?

The coordinated changes have raised questions about whether the brands are preparing to unveil a new campaign, product, partnership or national activation.

The timing and similarity of the changes make an isolated technical failure appear less likely, although that remains an inference until the participating brands provide an explanation.

For now, the central question remains unanswered:

Where are Kenya’s colours going?

As more brands join the apparent digital mystery, attention is now focused on what they may reveal next and whether the campaign will culminate in a larger announcement.

The affected companies have yet to provide a comprehensive public explanation of the phenomenon.

This is a developing story.
