29-year-old woman raped, strangled to death by two men in Embakasi

NAIROBI, KENYA — Embakasi Police Station detectives have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the heinous murder of 29-year-old Naomi Wangare Mwangi, who was allegedly lured, sexually assaulted, and strangled by two male suspects.

Authorities report that a female accomplice, now detained, facilitated the crime by orchestrating a deceptive encounter with the victim under the cover of night.

The discovery of Mwangi’s body occurred within the Embakasi area on the night of February 18th.

Eyewitness accounts detail a harrowing scene wherein the assailants forcibly subdued the victim before perpetrating the sexual assault.

Witnesses reported hearing a “long, shrill cry that echoed through the night, alarming the entire neighborhood.”

Upon reaching the location, residents discovered Mwangi’s partially unclothed remains. The perpetrators had already fled the scene under the cloak of darkness.

Law enforcement officials were promptly notified, and the body was transported to the City Mortuary. Subsequently, they informed the deceased’s husband, Cornel Ekaset, of the tragic event.

Ekaset recounted that on the night of the incident, Mwangi received a telephone call and departed their residence, leaving their 9-year-old daughter behind.

“When her husband arrived home from work, he could not find Naomi, until a neighbor came knocking with the tragic news—his wife had been murdered,” stated investigators.

The subsequent arrest of a female associate, who maintained contact with Mwangi prior to her death, has yielded critical leads. Police confirm that the suspect was observed with the victim and two male individuals shortly before the fatal incident.

Post-mortem examination results have confirmed that Mwangi’s cause of death was strangulation, and that she was also sexually assaulted.

The search for the remaining male suspects remains active and ongoing.
