NYS announces nationwide recruitment of volunteers

NAIROBI, KENYA — The National Youth Service (NYS) has issued a call for volunteers to serve the nation in a nationwide recruitment drive.

An advertisement published in the MyGov paper outlines the recruitment period from Monday, February 10th, to Saturday, February 15th.

Eligible candidates must be Kenyan citizens, residents of their respective sub-counties, and possess a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of D (plain) or above.

Applicants are required to present an original National ID card, obtain a Certificate of Good Conduct, and undergo mandatory medical check-ups both during and after the recruitment process. All volunteers will undergo a rigorous training program.

Successful candidates will receive calling letters specifying the reporting dates and times for the NYS paramilitary course at the Academy in Gilgil and Naivasha.

The NYS will prioritize orphans who fulfill the eligibility criteria. Persons with disabilities will also be considered, provided they can successfully complete the physical training requirements.

“NYS does not condone corruption in any form. Canvassing and giving monetary or other considerations for admission is an offense that may lead to automatic disqualification or prosecution,” the notice read in part.
