NAIROBI, Kenya — Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has announced that he has declined an invitation from his long-time political ally, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) boss Raila Odinga, to attend the party’s upcoming 20th-anniversary celebrations. The ODM anniversary celebrations are scheduled to take place in Mombasa County from October 10 to 12.
Addressing the press on Wednesday outside the Wiper headquarters in Nairobi, Kalonzo said Odinga had formally invited him in a letter to grace the event. Citing their long political friendship, the 2027 presidential aspirant appeared to express regret for his long-standing support for the former premier’s political ambitions.
He then announced his decision not to attend the celebrations. “Ile kitu nimeona Raila ameniandikia barua akinialika ODM at 20. Mimi sitakuwa huko. I wish them well. I have spent a sizable chunk of my own life to support Raila,” he stated.

At the same time, Kalonzo made a bold prediction about President William Ruto’s political future, drawing a parallel with recent events in Malawi.
“Malawi wamesema one term na Wakenya are about to make history; President Ruto lazima atakuwa one term. Tujiandae Ruto atakuwa wa kwanza kusema nimekubali,” he said, referencing Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera’s recent concession in his country’s election.
In a separate announcement, Kalonzo confirmed that his party will be fielding candidates in several upcoming by-elections.
“We are fielding candidates in Kasipul, Ugunja and Magarini and 7 other MCA by-elections,” he revealed.
