IEBC restores voter verification portal - How to verify your details online ahead of 2027 elections

NAIROBI, Kenya — After a temporary period of unavailability due to system maintenance, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced on Tuesday that its voter verification portal has been fully reactivated.

This restoration allows previously registered voters across Kenya to now confirm their electoral records, as the registration window for the 2027 General Elections draws nearer.

Voters seeking to verify their details have two convenient options: via SMS or through the official IEBC online portal.

To utilize the SMS service, individuals should send their national ID or passport number (depending on which document was used during registration) to the short code 70000.

Alternatively, the online verification platform is accessible at https://verify.iebc.or.ke. Users will be prompted to input their national ID or passport number along with their year of birth.

Upon successful entry, the portal will display comprehensive voter information, including the individual’s full name, registered county, constituency, and ward.

Additionally, details regarding their polling center name, specific polling station, and polling station number (stream) will be provided.

For personal record-keeping, voters also have the option to download their verified details as a PDF document.

The IEBC has confirmed that it holds the records of over 22.1 million registered voters from the 2022 General Election.

Looking ahead to the 2027 polls, the commission projects an increase of approximately 5.7 million new voters, anticipating a total electorate of around 28 million.
