HOMA BAY, Kenya — Just a day after completing the traditional Luo mourning ritual known as “Tero Yuak,” Meshack Opiyo Ojwang’, father of the late blogger Albert Ojwang’, has revealed that President William Ruto personally extended his condolences via a phone call.
Speaking to the press on Monday, June 16, 2025, Mr. Ojwang’ confirmed that the President also provided financial support totaling Ksh2 million to assist the family during their difficult time.
He reiterated that the family’s unwavering quest for justice for Albert remains paramount, affirming their commitment to ensuring those responsible are held accountable.

Meanwhile, family spokesperson Kenneth Ouma took the opportunity to dismiss ongoing claims that the family has filed a joint petition alongside unnamed politicians regarding the ongoing case.
“We want to say clearly that we are not part of that petition. We don’t know who filed it. Our lawyer is not aware, and the lawyer has written to the magistrate to clarify that Muse is not the second petitioner, as indicated in the media,” Ouma said.
He added that the family welcomes anyone who wishes to mourn with them or contribute to support burial arrangements.
“We have an official family support channel. We have a paybill number and a bank account,” Ouma said.
The official Paybill number is 4699944, and the family is urging the public to be cautious of potential scammers pretending to collect donations on their behalf.
In a tangible display of support, the Homa Bay County Government has initiated the construction of a two-bedroom house for the Ojwang’ family.
Governor Gladys Wanga, who presided over the groundbreaking event, urged the national government to expedite investigations into the blogger’s death and ensure that justice is swiftly served.
