28 injured after Kisumu-bound Easy Coach bus crashes into trailer at Salgaa

NAIROBI, Kenya — A Monday morning journey turned tragic for dozens of passengers after a bus belonging to Easy Coach Ltd was involved in a severe road accident at the notorious Salgaa area along the Nairobi–Nakuru highway.

The passenger service vehicle was en route from Nairobi to Kisumu when it reportedly rammed into a trailer. The impact left 28 people with various injuries, sparking an immediate emergency response from a multi-agency team.

First responders, led by the Kenya Red Cross, arrived at the scene shortly after the collision to provide life-saving assistance. According to their assessment, the severity of the injuries required immediate prioritization.

“According to the Kenya Red Cross, 12 were rushed to hospital in critical condition, while 16 others were attended to at the scene,” a report on the rescue efforts noted.

Those in critical condition are currently receiving intensive care at nearby medical facilities, while those with minor injuries were stabilized on-site before being released or further monitored.

The wreckage of the bus, which sustained significant damage, was towed to the Kaptembwo Police Station.
