KAKAMEGA, Kenya — Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale is mourning the sudden death of his wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, who died on Saturday morning after collapsing from what the senator said was a heart attack.
Khalwale announced Gloria’s death in a statement on Saturday, August 15, saying she had suddenly collapsed and died.
“My dear wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, has this morning suddenly collapsed and died after a heart attack,” Khalwale said.
Gloria was the mother of the couple’s eight children, whom Khalwale identified in his announcement as Engine Kukaste Khalwale, Olivia Sabayi Khalwale, Flavia Shimuli Khalwale, Gift Atubukha Khalwale, Meliza Khamwenyi Khalwale, Velma Nasiebanda Khalwale, Sonia Inuni Khalwale and Maura Makatse Khalwale.
The senator’s announcement was met with messages of condolence from Kenyans and other members of the public, who expressed sympathy with the family following the sudden loss.
The news came without prior indication of illness, with the senator describing Gloria’s death as sudden.
