NAIROBI, Kenya — Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has unveiled a proposed leadership structure for the Linda Mwananchi Movement’s political party, bringing together several prominent political figures as the outfit prepares to formalise its organisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The proposed lineup, announced on Friday, October 30, during the launch of the party’s secretariat in Nairobi, features former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo and several other politicians.

Sifuna said the proposed structure would comprise a party leader and four deputies, with Mwangaza, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau and Odhiambo among those earmarked for the deputy leadership positions. A fourth slot has been reserved for a representative from the Coast region.

“We will be proposing that we structure the party so that we have a party leader and four deputies. For now, we have resolved that Kawira Mwangaza has decided to be one of the party leaders,” Sifuna said.

The names are expected to be presented to the party’s National Delegates Conference (NDC) for consideration and endorsement.

Osotsi, Ndolo and Omondi named for senior positions

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has been proposed for the position of party chairperson, with former Makadara MP Reuben Ndolo named as his deputy.

Suba South MP Caroli Omondi has been proposed for Secretary-General, with Pauline Njoroge nominated as his deputy.

Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka has been proposed as national treasurer, deputised by Abigael Gikonyo.

The proposed structure also assigns organisational and political responsibilities to other figures within the movement.

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has been proposed as Secretary for Political Affairs. He is also expected to pursue the Kakamega governorship on the party’s ticket.

Women, youth and diaspora representation

The proposed leadership structure also includes positions for women, young people and Kenyans living abroad.

Caroline Mayuzu has been nominated to head the party’s women’s league, while Fridah Onduso has been proposed to lead its youth league.

Torome Nalengoyo, the immediate former Narok ODM chairperson, has been proposed as the party’s representative for minority affairs.

Eunice Juma, one of the movement’s founders, has been nominated as Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, while Gilbert Shanga has been proposed for Secretary of International Affairs.

The appointments are part of efforts to establish a national party structure with representation across different regions and political constituencies.

NDC to determine proposed leadership

The proposed lineup marks another step in the movement’s efforts to transform its political ambitions into a formal party organisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

The movement has been rebranding The Equitable Party (TEP) as the Linda Mwananchi Movement through the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties.

Its National Delegates Conference is expected to consider the proposed leadership structure and other organisational changes. The Daily Nation has reported that the convention is scheduled for November 13, 2026.

Sifuna and his allies are seeking to build party structures capable of coordinating political mobilisation, managing nominations and providing a platform for candidates seeking elective positions in the next General Election.

However, the proposed officials will need the endorsement of delegates before the appointments can be treated as formally confirmed.
