KISII, Kenya — A wave of fear and disbelief has swept through Nyacheki village in Bobasi, Kisii County, after residents lynched a man suspected of killing his wife and allegedly engaging in cannibalism. The grisly case has left the community in utter shock.
Local authorities identified the suspect only as Ogoro, who was reportedly killed by an enraged mob on Tuesday after horrifying allegations surfaced.
According to reports, Ogoro not only murdered his wife but also allegedly fed parts of her remains to their two children.
One resident claimed that Ogoro would frequently cook meat for visitors—meals that now raise grave suspicions. “We scarcely suspected he could have been cooking the remains of his wife,” the villager told journalists.
Allegations have also emerged linking Ogoro to the death of a former spouse before he remarried. Villagers described him as mentally unstable and struggling with drug addiction.
“We were too shocked to comprehend what we were seeing. It’s something straight out of a horror movie,” said John Omobasi, a visibly shaken local resident.
The woman had reportedly been missing for two months. Her decomposing remains were discovered hidden in a sack inside the couple’s home.

Unable to contain their fury, villagers attacked Ogoro with crude weapons and set his body ablaze. Officers from Nyangusu Police Station later arrived at the scene and moved both bodies to Nyamache Hospital mortuary. Investigations are ongoing.
In the aftermath, local leaders have appealed for calm and urged the community to let justice take its course.
“We understand the public outrage, but taking the law into your own hands only worsens the situation,” said the area chief.
