DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania — Tanzanian singer Zuchu has dismissed social media claims that she is pregnant or has secretly given birth to a child with fellow music star Diamond Platnumz, responding with humour as speculation about the celebrity couple continues to circulate online.

The singer addressed the rumours through an Instagram post that quickly attracted thousands of reactions from fans across East Africa.

In the post, Zuchu joked that she had also heard reports suggesting she had already given birth, despite knowing nothing about it herself.

“Naskia nimezaa na mie mzazi sina taarifa 😂 Haya nikireport kutoka leba naomba mkasalize wimbo wa Chinga,” she wrote.

Translated loosely, the statement means: “I hear I’ve already given birth, yet even I, the supposed mother, have no information about it. If I ever report from the labour ward, please support the song Chinga.”

Rather than directly confronting the rumours, the singer used the moment to promote Chinga, a song by Tanzanian artist Ibraah, with whom she recently collaborated.

Turning rumours into music promotion

The post quickly shifted attention from the speculation to Zuchu’s latest musical projects.

Ibraah responded in the comments by praising Zuchu for her contribution to the track.

“Unakabia juu sana, Malkia! 👑💙 Asante kwa verse kali ya Bongo Flava 2026. Heshima kwako,” he wrote.

Zuchu replied warmly:

“Wimbo mkubwa sana Chinga. Hongera kwa kazi kali. You gained a fan. 🙌❤️”

The exchange drew positive reactions from fans, many of whom applauded the collaboration while joining the discussion about the pregnancy rumours.

Fans react with humour

As often happens whenever Zuchu and Diamond Platnumz trend online, fans flooded the comment section with jokes and playful speculation.

Some questioned whether the alleged baby was a boy or girl, while others mocked the tendency of social media users to create elaborate stories about celebrity relationships without evidence.

The reactions reflected the intense public interest surrounding Zuchu and Diamond, whose relationship has remained one of the most closely followed celebrity stories in East Africa.

The pair have occasionally shared glimpses of their relationship publicly, but they have also maintained privacy around many aspects of their personal lives, often leaving fans guessing about the status of their romance.

Neither Zuchu nor Diamond has announced a pregnancy or the birth of a child, and no credible evidence has emerged to support the latest claims circulating online.

Entertainment analysts note that high-profile personalities often become subjects of viral speculation, particularly when they maintain large online followings and attract intense public attention.

Rather than issuing a formal denial, Zuchu opted for a light-hearted response that allowed her to dismiss the rumours while drawing attention to new music.

For now, the singer appears content to let the jokes continue while keeping the focus on her career.
