NAIROBI, Kenya — A fundraising campaign has been launched to support Patricia Wanjiku Bruce, a Kenyan mother and advertising professional whose life changed dramatically after a road accident on January 8, 2025, left her paralysed from the chest down.
Family members and well-wishers are seeking to raise KSh750,000 (approximately US$5,814) to cover six months of specialised rehabilitation, medication and home-based care as she continues a recovery journey marked by steady progress despite severe injuries.
According to campaign organisers, Patricia has spent the past 18 months undergoing intensive physiotherapy and medical treatment. They say she has made significant improvement through determination, family support and consistent care.
She is now able to move her arms independently, operate her wheelchair without assistance, sit upright without support and has regained limited movement in her legs.
“Patricia is a fighter,” campaign organisers said. “Through faith, resilience and sustained rehabilitation, she has achieved milestones that once seemed impossible. However, the financial burden of treatment has exhausted family resources.”
Organisers say she currently requires five physiotherapy sessions each week, alongside daily medication and specialised home care. These services cost an estimated KSh125,000 (approximately US$969) per month.
The fundraising target of KSh750,000 (approximately US$5,814) is intended to sustain her treatment for the next six months, a period doctors and therapists say is critical to maintaining and advancing her recovery.
Beyond her physical condition, Patricia remains motivated by her young daughter, who has been a constant source of strength throughout her rehabilitation.
“Her daughter is one of the reasons she continues to push forward every day,” organisers added.

Medical professionals emphasise that sustained rehabilitation is vital for spinal cord injury patients, with consistent physiotherapy playing a key role in improving mobility, independence and quality of life.
Supporters are appealing to members of the public, friends, colleagues and corporate well-wishers to contribute towards Patricia’s recovery and help sustain her ongoing treatment.
Donations can be made through the official fundraising platform, while additional contributions may also be sent via designated mobile money channels.
The organisers have pledged transparency in the management of all funds, noting that donations made through the platform are reflected in real time.
For Patricia and her family, the appeal represents an opportunity to continue a recovery journey defined by resilience, determination and steady progress against the odds.
