LUUKA, Uganda — Police in Luuka District are investigating the sudden death of a 50-year-old man who collapsed during an intimate encounter in a bush, prompting concern within the local community.

The deceased, identified as Simon Kalamu, was a resident of Namulanda B Village in Bukooma Sub-county. Authorities said the incident occurred on the night of May 18 at around 9pm.

According to police, Kalamu had gone to a nearby bush with a 40-year-old woman from the same area, where the two engaged in an intimate encounter.

It is reported that he collapsed shortly afterwards. The woman raised an alarm, drawing the attention of nearby residents who later alerted local authorities.

Preliminary findings indicate no immediate signs of foul play, although police say investigations are ongoing to establish the exact cause of death.

The body has been taken for a postmortem examination to guide the inquiry.

Busoga North Police spokesperson Samson Lubega confirmed the incident and urged the public to remain calm as investigations continue.

Lubega also advised residents to be mindful of their health, particularly during physically demanding activity.

He noted that underlying medical conditions can contribute to sudden health emergencies.

Medical experts say deaths during sexual activity are rare but can occur due to sudden increases in heart rate and blood pressure, especially among individuals with pre-existing conditions such as cardiovascular disease.

The incident has drawn attention in the local community, with residents expressing shock over the sudden nature of the death.

Police say a full report will be released once investigations are complete.
