ISIOLO, Kenya — The nation is mourning the loss of Mohamed Tubi Bidu, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Isiolo South Constituency, who passed away on Wednesday while receiving medical treatment at a Nairobi hospital.
Mr. Tubi, who was elected to serve Isiolo South in August 2022 under the Jubilee Party ticket, was a highly regarded political figure in Isiolo County, known for his dedication to community development and county unity.
Eulogized as principled and steadfast
Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo was among the first to offer his condolences, eulogizing the late MP as a foundational and courageous leader for the county.
“Deeply saddened by the passing of Hon. Mohamed Tubi Bidu, Member of Parliament for Isiolo South, this evening at Nairobi Hospital. He was steadfast in his convictions and always guided by a deep desire to uplift the lives of his constituents and foster unity across our county,” Governor Guyo said.
The Governor highlighted the lawmaker’s earlier role in establishing the county’s governance structures, noting his distinguished service as the first Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly between 2013 and 2017.

“Mohamed previously served with distinction as the first Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly, where he laid a strong foundation for the growth of our devolved governance system. He was a principled and courageous leader, steadfast in his convictions and always guided by a deep desire to uplift the lives of his constituents and foster unity across our county.”
Governor Guyo concluded by stating that the passing of the MP is a profound loss to the entire Isiolo community and the nation at large.
“My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the people of Isiolo South during this difficult time. May the Almighty Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus and comfort his loved ones,” he added.
A career in public service and conservation
Before his tenure as MP and County Assembly Speaker, Mr. Tubi had a career in conservation, serving as a Chief Game Warden at several major national parks, including Samburu Park, Maasai Mara National Reserve, and Isiolo Parks.
The late legislator held a Bachelor of Arts in Community Development from Gretsa University and a Diploma in Wildlife from the College of African Wildlife Management in Moshi, Tanzania.
