NAIROBI, Kenya — Kenya has made a historic debut at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, securing a place in the quarterfinals with a game to spare. The Harambee Stars’ strong performance in Group A has cemented their spot in the knockout stage.
The team’s journey began with a remarkable 1-0 victory over DR Congo, followed by a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Angola.
In their third and most decisive match, Kenya stunned a strong Morocco side with a 1-0 win, propelling them to the top of the group standings with 7 points.
Kenya’s qualification was officially confirmed by the results of other matches within the group. When Morocco defeated Zambia and DR Congo edged past Angola, both Zambia and Angola were eliminated from the competition.

With victories over both Morocco and DR Congo in their head-to-head matchups, Kenya is guaranteed to advance to the knockout stage based on the tournament’s tie-breaking rules.
The Harambee Stars will play their final group match against Zambia on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
