NAIROBI, Kenya — Political blogger Ndiang’ui Kinyagia, who was reported missing last week, has made contact with his family, confirming he is safe, healthy, and currently in hiding.

This information was released in an official statement today, Thursday, July 3, 2025, by his legal representative, Advocate Wahome Thuku.

According to the family’s statement, Kinyagia reached out to a relative on the evening of Tuesday, July 1, from an undisclosed location.

He explained that he went into hiding after learning that officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) were allegedly pursuing him in connection with unspecified criminal allegations.

Kinyagia informed his family member that he had temporarily concealed himself due to fears for his life. However, he is now prepared and willing to present himself to the DCI and appear before any court, provided his safety and security are guaranteed.

The family anticipates that Kinyagia will present himself before the High Court at Milimani Law Courts today, Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 11 a.m.

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has also been notified by the family to provide legal analysis and representation in court.

The statement further highlighted the family’s deep concern regarding reports that DCI officers allegedly broke into Kinyagia’s residence in Kinoo while he was absent and seized several items without a valid warrant.

This incident has been reported at the Kinoo Police Station, and the family has since been actively seeking justice.

Advocate Wahome Thuku conveyed the family’s gratitude: “We wish to thank all Kenyans, both in Kenya and abroad, for the support they have accorded us throughout this trying moment. It is our hope and prayer that justice will prevail in this matter.”
