NAIROBI, Kenya — Police in Kabete have successfully recovered an AK-47 rifle that was stolen from the Dagoretti Police Post during the violent demonstrations that occurred on June 25, 2025.
The recovery, confirmed by a Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) statement on Saturday, stemmed from a crucial tip-off.
Authorities were alerted to a suspicious man seen carrying a bulging bag at the Gravity Bar in the Gahui area.
Officers from Kabete Police Station quickly responded, leveraging intelligence and forensic leads to identify a potential suspect.

Their investigation led them to a residence in the Njuki-Kirigu neighborhood, believed to be the suspect’s hiding place. However, the individual managed to escape upon the officers’ arrival.
A subsequent search of the home, conducted in the presence of the suspect’s mother, yielded significant results.
