KAJIADO, Kenya — Detectives in Kajiado County are investigating the death of an unidentified woman whose body was found inside a vehicle that was completely destroyed by fire on a private farm along the Olkeri–Matasia Road.
The incident was reported to police on Friday, October 2, at about 10.30pm after members of the public raised the alarm.
Police officers who visited the scene found a white Toyota Fielder that had been completely burnt. The vehicle was parked about 50 metres off the Olkeri–Matasia Road inside a private farm.
Initial police findings indicate that the vehicle may have caught fire at about 7.30pm, several hours before the incident was reported.
A gas cylinder was also recovered from inside the vehicle, alongside the remains of an unidentified female victim who had been burnt beyond recognition.
Crime Scene Investigation officers from Ongata Rongai documented the scene and collected relevant exhibits before the remains were removed and taken to Nairobi City Mortuary for preservation and further examination.
The cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remain unknown.
Witnesses claimed the woman had been tied inside the vehicle before it was set on fire, but police have not publicly confirmed the allegation.
Detectives are expected to examine forensic evidence from the vehicle and the scene as they seek to establish how the fire started, identify the deceased and determine whether she was killed before the vehicle was set ablaze.
Police have not established a motive.
The investigation remains ongoing.
