ELDORET, Kenya — Police in Uasin Gishu County have launched a manhunt for a cleaner at a private hospital in Eldoret who is accused of allegedly defiling a minor while she was receiving treatment at the facility.
Investigators say the alleged incident occurred on July 21, 2026, at Living Room International Hospital along the Eldoret–Kaptagat Road and was later reported by the child’s parents to Ainabkoi Police Station.
Ainabkoi Sub-County Police Commander Charles Getende confirmed the investigation, saying officers are actively pursuing the suspect, who reportedly fled shortly after the alleged offence.
According to police, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, who is said to have worked as a cleaner at the hospital for about 10 years, was last traced through his mobile phone signal in Kitale Town, Trans Nzoia County.
Getende appealed to members of the public to assist investigators with any information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest.
“We are pursuing the suspect, and we urge anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station,” he said.
According to the victim’s family, the minor had been admitted to the hospital for medical treatment and was instructed by healthcare workers to provide a stool sample.

The family alleges that while the child was using the hospital washroom, she encountered the cleaner, who allegedly sexually assaulted her.
The parents said the incident has left the child severely traumatised and unable to resume her normal school activities.
When contacted, Living Room International Hospital Director Titus Boit declined to comment on the allegations, saying the matter is under active police investigation.
Authorities have not disclosed the age of the victim in order to protect her identity.
Police said investigations are continuing, and the suspect remains at large.
