NAIROBI, Kenya — Content creator Andrew Kibe has claimed that the controversy surrounding his recent appearance on Dr Ofweneke’s Lessons at 30 podcast was intentional, saying he deliberately sought to provoke as many people as possible during the interview.
Kibe’s remarks come days after the episode was removed from online platforms following widespread criticism over comments he made about rapper Stevo Simple Boy, with many viewers accusing him of bullying and body-shaming the musician.
The interview generated significant backlash across social media, prompting Dr Ofweneke to publicly apologise and later meet Stevo Simple Boy in person.
Kibe says controversy was deliberate
In a post shared on X on June 27, Kibe suggested that the reaction to the interview was part of the outcome he had anticipated.
According to the content creator, his objective during the conversation was to provoke strong reactions from viewers and different groups within society.
“I tried as much as possible to offend as many people/groups as possible in that Ofweneke’s podcast that he pulled down. Give them nothing but take away everything!”
Kibe also criticised Dr Ofweneke for removing the interview, arguing that the host had succumbed to public pressure.
“Imebidi Ofweneke adelete ile podcast yetu juu ya pressure. Mshenzi sana!”
The comments indicate that Kibe remains unapologetic despite the widespread condemnation that followed the interview.
Comments about Stevo Simple Boy sparked outrage
The controversy erupted after Kibe made disparaging remarks about Stevo Simple Boy’s appearance during the now-deleted episode.
Among the comments that drew criticism were suggestions that the rapper should not father children, remarks that many viewers described as offensive and demeaning.

The backlash quickly extended beyond Kibe to include Dr Ofweneke, with critics questioning the host’s response during the conversation.
Some viewers accused Ofweneke of enabling the comments after he appeared to laugh while Kibe mocked the musician.
The incident triggered extensive debate online, with many users calling for accountability and greater responsibility from public figures and content creators.
Dr Ofweneke apologises
Amid mounting criticism, Dr Ofweneke issued a public apology and later visited Stevo Simple Boy to express regret in person.
The comedian and media personality described the meeting as an act of humility and personal reflection.
Addressing criticism over his reaction during the interview, Ofweneke said his laughter should not have been interpreted as approval of the remarks.

“The laughter was a reflex action. I actually do regret that. As a brother, that should not have happened.”

He also used the opportunity to reassure Stevo Simple Boy that personal value should not be measured by physical appearance.
“Life is not a beauty contest. Nobody cares about how you look. We all care about the work that you bring into people’s lives.”
Episode permanently removed
Dr Ofweneke has since confirmed that the controversial episode has been permanently removed from circulation.
He has also pledged to support Stevo Simple Boy going forward and indicated that he intends to host the rapper on a future episode, giving him an opportunity to share his own story directly with audiences.
The controversy has reignited conversations about responsible content creation, online bullying and the limits of provocative entertainment in Kenya’s rapidly growing digital media space.
While Ofweneke has sought reconciliation, Kibe’s latest remarks suggest he remains unapologetic about the interview and the reaction it generated.
