KAMPALA, Uganda — Police in Old Kampala are investigating a murder incident in which a 34-year-old boda boda rider was allegedly killed following a violent altercation reportedly linked to football rivalry in Bakuli, Kampala Central Division.

The deceased, identified as Denis, a resident of Bakuli, was allegedly involved in a confrontation with a suspect known only as Musiramu, who is said to be a supporter of Manchester United, while the victim was reportedly an Arsenal fan.

According to preliminary police findings, the incident occurred on May 24, 2026 at around 6:30 p.m., when a disagreement between the two men escalated into a physical fight.

Police say the suspect allegedly struck Denis on the head during the altercation, causing him to collapse and die instantly.

The Old Kampala Police Division has since launched investigations into the incident, with efforts underway to apprehend the suspect, who remains at large.

The body of the deceased was conveyed to Mulago National Referral Hospital for postmortem examination as inquiries continue.

Authorities have not yet established whether football rivalry was the direct cause of the confrontation or whether other underlying issues contributed to the dispute.

Police have urged members of the public to resolve disagreements peacefully and avoid escalating disputes into violence, warning that such incidents continue to result in preventable loss of life.
