NAIROBI, Kenya — Kenyan TikToker and content creator Hannah Benta has spoken out after alleged private videos linked to her surfaced online, triggering widespread debate on privacy, consent, and the risks associated with digital fame.

The videos, which began circulating across social media platforms and messaging apps, quickly propelled her name to the top of trending topics in Kenya, drawing both criticism and support from the public.

In an Instagram statement on Sunday, March 22, 2026, the mother of two described the incident as a serious breach of privacy, with some posts attributed to her framing the situation as a violation of personal dignity and safety.

“I am Hannah Benta, a mother to an amazing son, Baby K, a daughter, a sister, and much more. This is my first address ever since this happened. Ignore all other pseudo accounts purporting to be me in addressing this matter. I haven’t addressed this matter. This is THE FIRST OFFICIAL STATEMENT,” Benta wrote.

The controversy intensified after reports linked the leak to individuals within her close circle, including her partner, widely identified online as Captain Sammir. The situation has since evolved into a broader online dispute involving multiple personalities.

According to emerging accounts, the content is believed to have originated from private material that was never intended for public distribution. The rapid spread of the videos, particularly on encrypted platforms, underscores the speed at which sensitive content can circulate once exposed.

“The private matter circulating in my Telegram was meant for private eyes only. The leak of my privacy is a violent violation and is gender-based violence,” she said.

Calls for accountability and restraint

Public figures and fellow influencers have weighed in, with some urging restraint and calling for those involved to respect personal boundaries.

Germany-based TikToker Nyako publicly advised Benta to distance herself from individuals she believes contributed to the situation.

The incident has also reignited conversations around digital consent, cyber harassment, and the legal implications of sharing explicit material without permission.

Privacy vs public persona

Benta, known for her bold online presence and large following, has previously been open about aspects of her personal life and content creation choices. However, supporters argue that this does not justify the unauthorised distribution of private material.

Critics, on the other hand, say the controversy reflects the blurred boundaries between public and private life in the influencer economy, particularly for creators operating across multiple platforms.

The incident highlights a growing trend in Kenya and globally, where influencers face heightened scrutiny and vulnerability in the digital space.

Cases involving leaked private content have increasingly sparked debates on:

  • Online ethics and responsibility
  • Platform accountability
  • Gender-based digital harassment
  • The legal protection of personal data

Experts warn that once such content enters public circulation, controlling its spread becomes nearly impossible, often leaving victims exposed to long-term reputational and psychological harm.

Urgent legal warning

As of now, Benta’s response has focused on addressing the emotional and personal impact of the incident, while calls for accountability continue to grow online.

She warned that anyone responsible for sharing the video has two hours to remove it from all platforms, after which she will take legal action to hold them accountable.

“You have 2 hours to delete everywhere you have posted and everywhere you circulated; otherwise, we will pursue this matter legally to the very end,” she stated.

Hannah Benta said her priority is to recover from the ordeal while safeguarding her family and pursuing legal action against those responsible.

“This is a crime. The culprit should be held accountable, and I am concentrating on protecting my family and seeking legal recourse,” Benta said.

She also called on public institutions and the wider community to take a firm stand against gender-based violence, urging relevant authorities and advocacy groups to intervene and help prevent similar incidents.

Benta stressed the importance of collective action in protecting victims and raising awareness about cyberbullying and online harassment.

“Let us stand together against gender-based violence,” she said.

The controversy remains fluid, with many observers watching closely to see whether legal action, platform intervention, or further public statements will follow.
