Manchester United claim dramatic 3-2 win over Arsenal at Emirates

LONDON, England — Manchester United staged a dramatic 3-2 comeback to beat Premier League leaders Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, thanks to a sensational late strike from Matheus Cunha.

The home side appeared to take control early. In the 29th minute, Lisandro Martínez inadvertently turned a cross from Piero Hincapié into his own net, giving Arsenal a 1-0 lead.

However, United responded swiftly. Just eight minutes later, Bryan Mbeumo capitalised on a defensive lapse to level the score, bringing the first half to an evenly contested 1-1.

The visitors seized the initiative in the second half. In the 50th minute, Patrick Dorgu finished from close range following a precise assist from Bruno Fernandes, putting United 2-1 ahead.

Arsenal struggled to regain composure as United’s defensive organisation grew increasingly confident.

Arsenal restored parity in the 84th minute. Mikel Merino converted a loose ball from a chaotic set piece, sparking hopes among the home fans for a late equaliser.

The drama peaked three minutes later. Cunha, positioned 25 yards from goal, struck a curling effort into the bottom corner, leaving the Arsenal goalkeeper helpless and the Emirates crowd stunned. His goal sealed a remarkable 3-2 victory for United.

In the closing minutes, Lisandro Martínez made a crucial tackle to deny Bukayo Saka, ensuring United held onto their hard-fought win despite seven minutes of added time.

The victory marks a strong start for interim manager Michael Carrick, who has now beaten Arsenal and Manchester City and drawn with Chelsea in his first five matches in charge.

For Arsenal, the defeat is a significant setback in their title ambitions, while Manchester United’s late resurgence under Carrick signals renewed belief in the squad.
