BUSIA COUNTY, Kenya — Four individuals were tragically killed and several others sustained serious injuries on Thursday after the vehicle they were traveling in lost control and overturned in the Wakhungu area of Nangina ward, Funyula constituency.
The incident involved a vehicle belonging to the Sugar Zone Sacco that was traveling from Bumala town toward Port Victoria.
Preliminary reports suggest the accident was caused by mechanical failure. It is alleged that the vehicle suffered a front tyre burst, which caused the driver to lose control of the Sacco vehicle before it overturned.
The victims confirmed deceased include the driver, one woman, and two men.
The passengers who sustained injuries were immediately transported to Nangina Mission Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Samia Sub-County OCPD Richard Moracha confirmed the tragic fatalities and the ongoing investigation into the exact cause of the crash.
“…investigations are ongoing before a full report is released,” the OCPD stated.
The police are expected to provide a detailed account of the circumstances surrounding the accident upon completion of their inquiry.
