Harmonize shaves hair in Kenya to honour Raila Odinga

NAIROBI, Kenya — Tanzanian music sensation Harmonize has revealed the poignant reason behind his sudden decision to shave his hair bald immediately upon arriving in Kenya, stating the gesture is a tribute to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

In an Instagram post shared on Friday, November 21, 2025, the ‘Kidedea’ hitmaker unveiled his new look, explaining that the bold transformation was a mark of respect for the departed leader and a demonstration of solidarity with the Kenyan people during this period of mourning.

A high-profile arrival

Harmonize touched down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

His entrance was shrouded in mystery, as he was flanked by a heavy detail of hired bodyguards, projecting a serious and high-profile aura.

While he remained tight-lipped about the specific itinerary of his visit, the Konde Gang CEO teased the upcoming release of a new album, promising a sonic shift that would surprise his fanbase.

“New music and music that you have never heard of before – I am very excited myself,” he said with palpable enthusiasm.

Reflecting on political unrest

Beyond the music, Harmonize expressed a sense of relief that 2025 is drawing to a close.

He spoke candidly about the difficulties faced by Tanzanians this year, particularly the unrest that engulfed the nation during the October general elections.

“So it is all about my new album, as I said. I have been working on the album but, as you know, it has been a very challenging year, especially for us Tanzanians, and as you know, matters around the campaigns and elections were complex and varied, and the year is coming to an end, thank God,” he said.

Concert cancellations at home

The artiste’s visit to Kenya follows a turbulent period back home.

Just days prior, Harmonize was forced to postpone a highly anticipated concert in Dodoma due to the tension hanging over Tanzania following days of nationwide protests linked to the disputed election results.

In a statement released by his label, Konde Gang, on Thursday, November 6, 2025, the management confirmed that the show, scheduled for November 7 at the Talatala Lounge, would not proceed.

The label cited the unpredictable security atmosphere and emphasized that their focus was on national healing rather than entertainment.

“Show postponed. Prayers up for peace and healing,” the group posted.
