DODOMA, Tanzania — Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan announced the Cabinet that will support her second term in office on Monday, marking the appointments with notable inclusions of relatives of political heavyweights.
The President named 27 ministers and 29 deputy ministers during a televised address from Chamwino State House in Dodoma.
“This afternoon, I have announced the appointment of the Cabinet and Deputy Ministers. Together, we will work to fulfil the fundamental responsibility of serving the citizens,” President Suluhu said.
The President emphasized the gravity of the roles being taken up by the new appointees:
“This responsibility is both a duty and a debt that we must repay to the people by serving them with passion, hard work and great integrity. I wish you all the best. May God guide and lead you,” she said.
Key appointments and political lineage
The new cabinet features several high-profile appointments:
- Wamu Hafidh Ameir (43), the President’s daughter, was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Technology. Ameir is the sitting Member of Parliament for Makunduchi Constituency in Zanzibar, having retained her seat for the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party in the October 29, 2025, general election.
- Ridhiwani Jakya Kikwete (46), the son of Tanzania’s fourth President, Jakaya Kikwete, was named the Minister of Public Service Management and Good Governance in the President’s office. Ridhiwani is the CCM legislator representing Chalinze Constituency in the Pwani region. His father, former President Kikwete, is widely credited with playing a key role in President Samia’s ascent within the CCM party and to the Presidency.
- Khamis Mussa Omar, Tanzania’s ambassador to China, was appointed as the new Minister of Finance.
Major cabinet exits
