KASESE, Uganda — Security forces in Kasese District acted swiftly following an early morning attack on a local police barracks, resulting in the fatal shooting of two suspected panga-wielding thugs and the arrest of several others.
The incident occurred early in the morning when a group of assailants, reportedly armed with machetes (pangas), targeted the police facility.
Security personnel responded immediately, leading to a confrontation that ended in casualties among the attackers.
Sources confirm that the swift counter-operation by the police and allied forces led to the death of two suspects on the spot.

Several individuals believed to be part of the attacking group were apprehended and are currently being detained as investigations commence.

While the motive behind the barracks attack remains unconfirmed by official sources, the Kasese district has historically experienced periods of volatility and attacks on security installations, often linked to local political conflicts or incursions by armed groups.
