Stack of Kenyan money

NAIROBI, Kenya — Detectives in Nairobi are currently investigating a daylight robbery in the Central Business District (CBD) where a customer was attacked shortly after leaving a bank, resulting in the loss of KSh 500,000.

Police confirmed that the incident took place around 3 p.m. on October 30, 2025.

According to the authorities, the victim and a colleague had jointly withdrawn a total of KSh 2.5 million.

The colleague reportedly departed with KSh 2 million toward Wabera Street, while the victim headed toward Luthuli Avenue.

The attack occurred near the Archives area, where the man was allegedly confronted by a group of approximately ten individuals. The assailants took the cash and immediately fled the scene.

Although the victim called for help, authorities noted that no one was immediately available to assist. Officers arrived shortly thereafter to find the man disoriented.

Investigation focus and related incidents

Investigators are treating the case with urgency and believe the suspects may have had prior knowledge of the cash withdrawal.

To advance the case, authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspects and also plan to interview bank staff involved in the transaction.

This incident is consistent with a worrying trend of armed robberies targeting customers leaving banking institutions.

In a separate, similar event in Siaya County, police reported that a gold dealer and his wife were robbed of Sh1 million while traveling along Bondo-Siaya Road.
