NAIROBI, Kenya — The Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) has issued a fierce rebuttal to the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) following accusations that WPF leader Kalonzo Musyoka and other opposition figures were maliciously spreading rumors about Raila Odinga’s health.
In a swift and strongly worded statement, Wiper dismissed ODM’s claims that Musyoka harbored ill intent toward his long-time political ally, branding the allegations as “malicious.”
Wiper asserted that ODM’s aggressive move was “an act of desperation” intended to divert public attention from the growing internal fissures within the party, which stem from its broad-based engagement deal with the current government.
Wiper did not mince words in its counter-attack, directly accusing the ODM of compromising its values for political gain:
“ODM’s hollow moralizing and blame games cannot mask their betrayal of the Kenyan people,” Wiidper declared in its official statement.
It further escalated the attack by linking ODM’s political alignment to the current administration’s record: “Their alliance with President Ruto’s regime, the same administration responsible for bloodshed, economic ruin and repression, exposes them as co-authors of the nation suffering. ODM’s latest statement is not about Raila’s health. It is about their guilt, their fear, and their desperate attempt to justify a political marriage stinking of despotism.”

In addition to defending Musyoka, Wiper categorically dismissed claims that he was responsible for Raila Odinga’s recent unsuccessful bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson position.
Wiper instead attributed Odinga’s defeat to “diplomatic blunders” committed by the government, arguing that these mistakes mirror the political challenges currently facing the ruling administration. The party vowed that it would not permit Kalonzo Musyoka to be drawn into ODM’s “self-inflicted political decay.”
The high-stakes public exchange was precipitated by widespread rumors suggesting that Odinga was battling severe health complications. ODM had previously sought to quell these rumors, stating that Odinga had traveled out of the country for private matters and confirming that his health was not at risk.
