KAMPALA, Uganda — The Electoral Commission (EC) has turned away presidential hopeful John Katumba, popularly known as Katumba Oyee, after he presented his nomination documents without the mandatory submission letter.
The letter, which serves as a formal notification of returning forms and voter signatures, is a prerequisite for the Commission to officially receive nomination papers.
Katumba, dressed in a pink blazer over a white shirt and carrying a stack of neatly filed papers, presented a more polished image than he did during his youthful and improvised campaign in 2021.

This time, instead of the battered blue Toyota Raum that once chauffeured him, he arrived at the Commission headquarters in Kampala in a cream Toyota Prado.
The vehicle was visibly plastered with campaign slogans promising jobs, free education, tax reform, and better infrastructure.
Despite the initial setback, Katumba has not been disqualified and still has time within the current nomination window to resubmit the documents with the required letter and complete the process.
