KAMPALA, Uganda — Maj. Gen. Sabiiti Muzeyi, the deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Enterprise Corporation—the financial arm of the army—was airlifted to Kampala on Saturday after being involved in a serious road accident.
The incident occurred in Lwengo district along the Mbarara–Kampala highway as the former Deputy Inspector General of Police was reportedly returning from a marriage ceremony in Mbarara.
Witnesses at the scene said the general’s vehicle was left mangled beyond recognition following a crash with a car carrying cattle.
The severity of his condition prompted an immediate evacuation by a military helicopter dispatched by security and medical teams. Maj. Gen. Sabiiti’s wife was also involved in the accident, the cause of which is still under investigation.

Although no official statement has been issued by the police or the army, multiple sources have confirmed that Maj. Gen. Sabiiti is now out of danger.
A security source offered reassurance, stating, “He is stable and responding well to treatment,” and urged the public to remain calm as doctors continue to monitor him closely.

A respected figure in Uganda’s security architecture, Maj. Gen. Sabiiti is a graduate of the prestigious National Defence College in Kenya.
