KAMPALA, Uganda — Uganda’s Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the CHAN-2024 tournament announced on Thursday that it has purchased all available tickets for the 3rd/4th place playoff match between Sudan and Senegal.
The tickets will be distributed to fans free of charge ahead of Friday’s game at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.
The East African country, which co-hosted the tournament alongside Kenya and Tanzania, secured up to 28,000 tickets from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as a reward for Ugandan football fans’ support during the historic first-time hosting.
The LOC, led by First Lady Janet Museveni, stated that the move recognizes the “exemplary participation” of fans and aims to make the matchday experience a memorable one.

“Thank you to all football fans that have made our homeland proud during this historic experience of hosting CHAN-2024 for the very first time. You have made the experience both memorable and a successful one at that,” Museveni said in a statement.
Ticket access and distribution
The LOC clarified that no tickets will be sold to the public. Instead, fans can access free tickets exclusively via CAF’s official online portal using the promo code CHAN3RD.
All tickets will be branded “NOT FOR SALE” and will retain the security features of standard match-day passes.
To complete the free booking, fans are required to submit personal details, including their name, contact number, and email. Each person is entitled to a maximum of three tickets.
The LOC also stated that no physical or electronic distribution of tickets by third parties is authorized, and entry to Namboole will require a genuine, unduplicated CAF-issued ticket.
Entertainment and match details
The Sudan vs. Senegal playoff match kicks off Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Namboole Stadium.
The LOC has organized a pre-match entertainment show featuring top Ugandan artists, including Jose Chameleone, John Blaq, Elijah Kitaka, and Vinka, starting one hour before kick-off.
